“Drawing The Line”

In the near future, I will begin writing a piece about “drawing the line.” A notable conservative commentator, Mark Levin, uses a phrase “the civil society” in his radio show and writings. I plan to talk about this from a street view. I make it a regular practice to check the forums of my local newspaper. I see the verbal vomit that is spilled there daily by non-contributing members of society (thats a nice way of saying wellfare recipient, deadbeat, or liberal).
I have decided that we need to draw a line and stand on the right side. We then need to get involved and push back against the liberals that want to unravel society. In the forums I saw so many people that do nothing more than whine from the sidelines all the while commenting as though they are the experts in subjects such as law enforcement. SO, I began responding in the forum with intelligent facts, strong words, and educated support for OUR side of the line…..
I will close with a recent response I made to a frequent agitator in my local newspaper forum.
“ssamson, I actually agree with some of the your points. I just want you to know two things. First, The reason why so many officers enforce piddly little sections of code is because they are pressured from their administrations to do so.
Most officers would rather spend time truly looking for and catching criminals, but they are restrained by poor administration, watch groups, and liberal policy makers that want laws that sound great for PR but really do nothing.
Second, in areas where they DO promote and actually deploy officers in a community based police method, where officers are given responcibilty for the same area every day, they see results and true criminals are deterred and aprhended.
Officers are operating in an increasingly violent environment. When they respond to the violence thrust at them the public puts them on trial instead of saying thank you for putting yourself in harms way.
I have been watching the comments in these forums for some time and only recently decided to start adding some of my own. I would venture to say that most of the people that make anti-law enforcement statements have never tried to find the REAL inside story of police officers and what is involved in doing their job.
They are just like some of the individuals involved in sports, they don’t want to play the game. They just want to be experts from the sidelines and spend all day telling police how they should be doing their jobs without ever understanding what it takes to get the job done.
I will close by saying that almost all agencies have some sort of volunteer groups that can get involved in see from the inside.
I say get involved before you you condemn police officers. I know that most, and I mean 99%, police officers believe in a civil society and the safety of the public and are willing to die for that cause. Ask yourself do you? Are you? ”
