Pelosi: People Who Don’t Buy Obamacare Should Go To Jail

Published by rightrevelation at 6:56 am under World News

I by no means want to take away from Robb’s sweet new whistle tunes (and, if I might add, I think we should all have a hobby to turn too to keep us sane in these…well, insane times in which we live).

But, I just couldn’t pass this story up.

In all of the hype surrounding Obamacare – is it Constitutional?, the outrageous cost, the funding of abortions, elderly death panels, and the list goes on – the Joke of the House gave us a new reason to look forward to nationalized healthcare: jail time.

Seriously.

You can watch the video of Pelosi addressing the question at Hot Air.  It’s worth the 1:30 of your time to see her dodge the question again and again:

Stone: Do you think it’s fair to send people to jail who don’t buy health insurance?

Pelosi: … The legislation is very fair in this respect.

In other words, for those out there who currently choose not to buy insurance, well, if you go to the hospital and can’t pay your bill, then you pass that buck on to others.  So, silly, instead we should just throw you in jail.

At least, that’s what I could gather from her reasoning.  If you’re able to discern liberal thinking better than I, feel free to add it to the comments.

Ed Morrissey reminds us that this is all part of a bloated government:

If nothing else, it reminds us that statism always comes with handcuffs, and those cuffs always get explained by either fairness or patriotism. In this case, Pelosi uses both.

According to liberals, it’s both fair and patriotic to imprison you for not supporting….the patriotic, government takeover of health care not supported by the majority of American citizens.

How’s that for sound logic?

What is astounding to me are the thousands of Obama backers who are absolutely oblivious to the consequences of his health care plan. I was talking to a woman earlier today in the grocery store about it. When I made mention of the fact that if you cannot or simply do not purchase health care insurance, then you will be fined and jailed, her jaw dropped wide open. Her reply, sadly, was that of many others like her that have fallen victim to Obama’s “good guy” mirage. She said, “Wow…I didn’t know that. I thought Obama was a nice man. He said he wanted to make a change.” My reply to her was, “Unfortunately, you are not the only one who has fallen for his deceiving smile, and crafty song and dance. He promises change. The scary thing is…What kind of change are you going to get?” Things can ALWAYS get worse my friends. Change isn’t always good. But we are not defeated. We can always take back what is rightfully ours through our freedoms. We still have the freedom of speech…for however much longer it will last. We need to utilize it and educate the masses. We are after all, ladies and gentlemen, “One country under God…Indivisible…with Liberty and Justice for all!” It is time that we act like it.

    …On a personal note….
No. I did not vote for Obama. But I don’t hate him. I have to honestly say that I was hoping that he would make some better changes in our country. There is always room for improvement somewhere. However, after seeing where he is taking our nation, my distaste for his leadership has become more bitter. We should never feel like we don’t have control of our lives and freedoms…and that’s what I am starting feel like. I know that I’m not alone. Even so, I do not advocate violence against this man. Just thought I would share and clarify where I am coming from.

    Hi Barbara -
FANTASTIC comments you have made here. I’m almost tempted to write a whole new blog post on it; so, forgive me if I run a little long :-)

I wish that I could bottle up your sentiment and send it to some of my friends and family members. It truly will be people such as yourself who address and bring these issues to light – even in the grocery store! – that will bring about positive change to our country.

It is one nation under God whether the left likes it or not :-)

I have many friends ‘on the fence’ between conservatism and liberalism. Some have voted for Obama…and some have not. What really bugs me is that all of them state the conservatives are ‘angry’. We’re not angry! We are merely frustrated at being misrepresented by the media (which, most of them listen to the garbage from CNN, MSNBC, and Newsweek) and at the destruction of our country.

    *Sigh*

We don’t hate Obama. But, as you say, the more and more we see from him the harder and harder it becomes to sit back and watch the expansion of a liberal government. First, it was banks. Then, it was a large part of our manufacturing (Gov’t Motors) and now it’s our health care.

All I would like is to see the facts – the truth – properly represented for all to see.

Maybe I’ll ask for it for Christmas :-)

    Kind Regards,
    RR
